. 月饼
August 15th of the Chinese lunar calendar is the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is a day of family reunion. On this day, Chinese people eat moon cakes. The cakes look round and are in the shape of the moon, which is the reason they are called “moon cakes” and represents “union.” In addition to eating moon cakes, people also enjoy the full moon on this “Mid-Autumn” day.
例如 (for example):
① 超市里有各种各样的月饼。
There are all types of moon cakes in the supermarket.
② 我以前非常喜欢吃月饼。
I used to like to eat moon cakes very much.

2. 怪不得(呢)
“怪不得呢 (guài bù de ne)” means that things are different from one’s previous thoughts and the truth is found out after an explanation from another person or he experiences something relevant by himself.
例如 (for example):
① A: 他找了个新女朋友,每天都和她在一起。
B: 怪不得最近一直找不到他。
A: He found a new girlfriend and was with her every day.
B: I see. That’s why I can’t find him these days.
② 她生病了,怪不得今天没来上班。
She is ill, that’s why she didn’t come to work today.

3. 原来
“原来” has two meanings: (1) used to (2) discovered something he didn’t know before
例如 (for example):
① 我妈妈原来是一名护士,现在是一名医生。
My mother used to be a nurse and she is now a doctor.
② 原来你早就知道了,为什么不早点告诉我?
So you have known this for a long time, why didn’t you tell me earlier?
